Job Title: Support Engineer – Marine Geophysics/Sub-bottom Profiling

Reporting to: Group Technical Manager

Due to business growth there is currently an exciting opportunity for a Support Engineer with expertise in Marine Geophysics and Sub-bottom Profiling to join our growing and dynamic team.

The successful candidate will be working within the service and support team on the maintenance of client owned sub-bottom profiling systems and developing knowledge on their applications. Some limited offshore time may be necessary, for trials, client training, demonstrations and product evaluations. There will also be the need to support colleagues with other equipment from time to time.

Desired skills, knowledge and experience;

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Observant, inquisitive and have an ability to solve problems;
  • Previous experience in Marine Geophysics a distinct advantage;
  • Good attention to detail;
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally;
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
  • Participate in and out of hours support rota;
  • IT literate, familiar with MS Office applications and
  • High standard of written and spoken English.

Job Title: Design Firmware / Software Engineer

Reporting to: Group Technical Manager

We are looking for an experienced signal processing Software/Firmware Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a ‘hands-on’ attitude and have at least 2 years’ experience working with DSP systems, and preferably 3 years of experience of software development in a commercial environment, however academic experience may be counted if working within research groups.

The role crosses all of our product lines for the development of new algorithms and equipment. This includes development of positioning algorithms and acoustic modems for a mix of high data rate, and low power systems.

Required

  • A strong background in signals processing
  • Experience with programming in embedded C/C++ DSP platforms (ideally including TI C6000 devices)
  • Experience of coding in a resource constrained processor
  • Experience of scripting languages (Matlab, or Python)
  • Experience of coding FPGAs (either in Verilog or VHDL)
  • Understanding of Schematics
  • Understanding of source control (preferably git)

Nice to have

  • Experience of Acoustic Systems (preferably underwater)
  • Experience of programming in C#
  • Experience of Linux (ideally including platform bring-up)
  • Experience of build utilities, and optimisation analysis
  • Understanding of Agile/Sprint methodologies
  • Understanding of Unit testing, and Continuous Improvement

Job Title: Electronics Assembly Technician – Production Department

Reporting to: Production Manager

This role will be to work within the production team delivering  the highest quality mechanical, electrical and electronic sub-assemblies that will become the core of our complex range of underwater products. Duties will include;

  • PCB assembly in accordance with IPC610
  • Cable assembly
  • Cable mouldings and encapsulation
  • Peer to peer quality inspection
  • Sub- assembly preparation
  • Box build assembly and testing

The successful candidate will have good attention to detail to allow us to deliver the quality that our customers expect. Previous experience in a similar role would be useful. Electronics knowledge/qualification would also be beneficial.

Skills required would include;

  • Component recognition
  • Ability to solder through hole and surface mount components
  • Make and fit wiring assemblies
  • IPC 610 PCB inspection (training can be provided)
  • Knowledge at user level of MS Office
  • Ability to work accurately to CAD assembly drawing packs

The above skills are an advantage although for the right candidate the company will facilitate all necessary appropriate training required to carry out these duties.


Job Title: Trainee / Graduate Electronics Test Engineer – Production Department

Reporting to: Production Manager

This role will be to work within the production team delivering the highest quality mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment that will become the core of our complex range of underwater products. The job will be part of our graduate programme where the candidate develops their skills over time, partially trained by a former graduate who has moved on to a more complex role within the business. Duties will include;

  • Testing of PCB assemblies
  • Board programming
  • Fault finding and reporting
  • PCB assembly
  • Cable assembly
  • Working accurately to CAD assembly drawing packs
  • Sub- assembly preparation and testing
  • Box build assembly and final testing

The successful candidate will have an HND or Degree in Electronics or comparable experience and be looking for an opportunity to apply this to a career.  Other experience within the field of engineering would be beneficial but not essential.

The applicant will be required to build and test subsea electronic and acoustic equipment to a very high standard ensuring all procedures are followed giving our customers the time-served quality that they expect. Other beneficial skills/experience include;

  • Component recognition
  • Ability to solder through hole and surface mount components
  • Read schematics and relate this to board testing
  • Make and  fit wiring assemblies
  • Fault finding
  • IPC 610 PCB inspection (training can be provided)
  • Knowledge at user level of MS Office
  • Detail approach to documentation control and processing

The above skills are an advantage although for the right candidate the company will facilitate all necessary appropriate training required to carry out these duties.
